Equipment and space rental
The unit opens on the dates paid for, the machine only runs for whoever hired it. No keys to hand over, no remote to chase when the hire ends.
The same old problem
Hiring out equipment or space is a job made of handovers and returns. You have to be there when the customer collects and when they bring it back, and neither moment ever lands at a convenient hour. Renting out units and storage is the same problem multiplied: keys in circulation, locks changed, people who stopped answering but still have access.
How it works
Units and storage
Let for periods of up to 30 days, renewable with a new purchase. Access is valid for the period paid for and closes by itself when it ends.
Machines and equipment
Where starting runs through an electrical control driven by a supported device, the equipment only works with a live hire. Once it ends, it will not start.
Workshops
The space is booked by the hour, with entry and machines coming alive during the slot that was bought.
Use by the go
Buy ten starts and you have ten, to use within the stated period. The eleventh is bought from a phone, without calling anybody.
The real gain: out-of-hours collection
A customer who can collect at six in the morning or return at nine at night is a customer who chooses you. Those are also the hours you would never have stayed open for, so it is not time you lose: it is time you were not selling before.
The log is for your benefit
Every opening and every start leaves a trace: who, what, when. On equipment that changes hands weekly that is the difference between knowing and assuming, and when something comes back damaged the conversation gets much shorter.
Blocking a machine's ignition needs careful thought: a machine cutting out while somebody is using it can be dangerous. The block applies to starting, not to work in progress, and each installation is worth assessing with somebody who knows that equipment.
What you need
A lock or relay on the unit's shutter, and a control on the starting circuit where that makes sense. On a site with ten units, start with two or three and widen out.
