Roraima Vendor Guide
Categories and product behaviour
Categories are operating rules
In Roraima, a category does more than group similar items. It determines what kind of offer is being published, which workflow applies and which configuration becomes relevant.
The correct choice depends first on the vendor role. Owners, Installers and Sellers do not start from the same list: an Owner starts from Listings, an Installer or a Seller from Products.
Owner: the two booking categories
An Owner creates products of three types: two that the Buyer books, nightly accommodation, and spaces or services by time slot, and one that the Buyer uses on site without a calendar, described in the next section. The two booking categories fix how the service is booked:
| Booking category | For | Booked by |
|---|---|---|
| Nightly accommodation | Rooms, apartments and houses | The night |
| Spaces and services by time slot | Courts, rooms, equipment and services | The time slot |
An Owner does not pick the category from a list. In Listings, the Owner starts from one of the type buttons: New nightly accommodation or New space or service by time slot for a bookable product, or New equipment or space by time or by use (next section). Opening a new product without one of these buttons leads to the New listing page, which asks what you want to offer and shows the same type buttons.
The sequence is:
- Choose the type with one of the two buttons. The new product opens with its booking category already set.
- Complete General and the Bookings tab, which shows only the settings of that booking mode, then save the product. Date exceptions, seasons and the calendar preview appear after the first save.
- Complete the required structure, availability and readiness information before a Buyer can book it.
Choosing the type does not complete the booking setup by itself.
The type does not change after creation
The booking category, and the booking mode that comes with it, cannot be changed once the product exists. On a saved bookable product the category is shown but cannot be edited, and the Bookings tab states the booking mode instead of offering a choice. While a new product is still unsaved, an Owner can use Choose another type to return to the choice.
To offer the same space the other way, for example a room sold by the night and also by the hour, create a new product of the other type.
An Owner retains one category per product. In Listings, the type buttons are the only way an Owner creates a new product.
Owner: equipment and spaces by time or by use
A third type is for equipment and spaces that the Buyer uses on site, such as a washing machine, a sauna, a shower, a car park or a gate. There is no calendar: the Buyer buys when they want and starts the service on site by scanning a QR code that the Owner has applied to the equipment or at the entrance.
New equipment or space by time or by use appears in Listings only when the Owner's plan includes this category. The product opens in the category Equipment and spaces by time or by use, which cannot be changed once the product exists: to sell the same equipment in another category, create a new product.
The sequence is:
- Choose New equipment or space by time or by use, enter the name and the price on General, and create the product.
- Open the Time and use tab, which appears after the first save. Choose the structure and how the product is sold, By time or With tokens, then the devices or the programmes the Buyer will use. See Time and use.
- Download the product's QR code with Download the QR to attach, print it and apply it to the equipment or space. If you later change the product's structure, download and print it again.
The price on General is the starting point for what the Buyer chooses: on the Options tab, each row adds its own surcharge. Each piece of equipment is its own product, so two washing machines are two products, each with its own QR code. A product in this category counts as one unit in the plan limit, together with rooms and apartments.
Installer: predefined installation services
An Installer chooses a predefined installation service from those made available in the Roraima marketplace.
The chosen service defines what kind of work is being offered. The Installer then publishes a commercial offer for that service. The Installer does not create a new installation category or use a booking category for the job.
Seller: the Roraima IoT catalogue
A Seller chooses a predefined IoT device from the catalogue made available by Roraima.
The chosen catalogue item defines the device being sold. The Seller then publishes a commercial offer for that item. The Seller does not create an arbitrary device category or convert the device into a bookable service.
What changes after the choice
| Path | The choice identifies | What the vendor configures next |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | A bookable service booked by the night or by the time slot | The product and the booking rules of that mode |
| Owner | Equipment or a space used on site | The product and its Time and use settings |
| Installer | A supported installation service | The Installer's offer for that service |
| Seller | A supported IoT device | The Seller's offer for that device |
The category also selects readiness rules
The category determines which company activity and product requirements must be complete before the offer can be published. In particular:
- the VAT rate for the matching activity must be selected in Manage your company profile;
- the configuration required by that workflow must be complete;
- company, payout and territorial requirements apply when they are relevant to the offer.
The company profile may be saved while an activity's VAT rate is still unset. The product in that activity remains unavailable until the rate and the other visible requirements are completed. After correcting a requirement, review the product in Manage products and activate it deliberately.
Choose the correct path
- If you are an Owner, first decide whether the Buyer must make a booking. Use New nightly accommodation for a stay booked by the night, or New space or service by time slot for a service booked by the time slot. If the Buyer does not book anything and simply uses the equipment or space on site, use New equipment or space by time or by use.
- If your Authorized Supplier subcategory is Installer, select the matching installation service.
- If your Authorized Supplier subcategory is Seller, select the matching device from the Roraima catalogue.
An Authorized Supplier approved for both activities uses step 2 for installation offers and step 3 for device offers.
Continue with product configuration
The detailed Product configuration section documents the product tabs available to an Owner. Start with General for the visible category field. Use Booking configuration only for a product created in one of the two booking categories, and the Time and use tab (Time and use) for equipment and spaces by time or by use.
